Ask Your Representative to Support Early Withdrawal from Afghanistan
We applaud the Secretary of Defense’s February 1 announcement that the United States will end combat operations in Afghanistan in 2013. Given that U.S. military intervention in Afghanistan was supposed to end in 2014, this announcement speeds up withdrawal, and as reported by the New York Times, it is “a major milestone toward ending a decade of war in Afghanistan.” [...]
Free $$ from Cold War Time Machine
Congressman Ed Markey (D-MA) has introduced the Smarter Approach to Nuclear Expenditures (SANE) Act, H.R. 3974, to reduce nuclear weapons spending.
It’s time for us to cut excessive, out of control and frankly insane spending on nuclear weapons. As Congressman Markey says, “America’s nuclear weapons budget is locked in a Cold War time machine.” [...]

Over the next few months, President Obama will write new guidance that will lead to the latest nuclear war plan and new requirements for the size and structure of the U.S. nuclear arsenal. It could be the President’s last major opportunity to shift U.S. reliance on nuclear weapons [...]
Show the world we’re not broke!
With all this talk about our staggering national debt, it’s easy to feel down about the economic future of the United States. Some politicians make it sound like we’re broke and we just have to consent to deep spending cuts. Yet we’re spending record levels on the military, so clearly we can find money to [...]
